


The Adhyapika Niharika Das Smrti Nyasa was formed in the year 1996 and was registered by the District Sub-Registrar, Cuttack vide Deed No.440 of the same year. The Nyasa (Trust) was formed with the aim of cherishing the memory of Late Niharika Das, Lecturer and Head, Department of History, Cuttack City College, Rajabagicha, Cuttack. The deed of the Trust was made on the 28th day of November 1996 by Justice Prafulla Kishore Mohanty, Dr. Dhaneswar Mohapatra, Dr. Amoolya Krushna Meeshraw, Dr. Shyam Sundar Mishra, Shri Jyotish Chandra Pattanayak, Dr. Pabak Kanungo, Dr. Bauribandhu Kar, Shri Debadutta Mohanty, Smt. Kishoreemani Singh, Dr. Sushanta Kumar Das and Shri Narayan Mohanty.
Prize:-
The Trust decided to award a prize in cash with citation to the student of Plus Three First Year class of Cuttack City College, Cuttack who comes out successful in the Annual Plus Two Examination from the College securing the highest mark in History every year in memory of Late Das. The Trust gave a sum of Rs.5,000.00 (Rupees Five Thousand) only in the shape of a Demand Draft to the Principal which in turn was deposited in the State Bank of India, Jhanjiri Mangala branch by him. The award of prize in cash every year is being met out of the interest received on the deposit since then.

Niharika, a souvenir published in memory of Late Niharika Das, is the 1st publication of the Trust. Edited jointly by Dr. Pramod Kumar Dash, Lecturer in Odia, Govt. Women’s College, Berhampur and Shri Tapankanti Patnaik, Lecturer in English, Rajdhani College, Bhubaneswar, the souvenir was published in the year 1995. It was released by Hon’ble Justice Debendra Mohan Patnaik, Puisne Judge of Orissa High Court on 14th December 1995, the 1st death anniversary of Late Das, in a somber but well-attended function held in Shreeramchandra Bhawan, Cuttack. The souvenir contains 38 articles including 6 poems written by eminent litterateurs of Odisha.Palli Parichaya, written by Shri Rasabihari Mohanty, is the 2nd publication of the Trust. The author makes a lively description of his village Mallipur in a poetic form. The book was published in the year 2006.
Atomism of Maharsi Kanada,a monograpn written by Dr. Narayan Mohanty, is the 3rd publication of the Trust. It is a part of Dr. Mohanty’s Ph.D. dissertation entitled Philosophical Atomism: Indian and Western. The book was published in the year 2013.
‘Mallimahak’ written by Shri Abhay Charan Mohanty, is the 4th publication of the Trust. The book depicts the socio-economic conditions of the village Mallipur from 1900 to 1950 in a vivid form. It was published this year, that is, 2014.
